131-133 Keldgate, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU17 8JA
A beautiful newly designed garden behind a modern house.
Two ancient single-storeyed cottages were demolished in the late 20th century to make a new property carefully fitted into the surroundings of the historic street.
Keldgate ('street of the springs') runs west-east from the site of the former Keldgate Bar, (a medieval town gate), to join Minster Yard south and so along the south side of the Minster to join Eastgate. Behind the house lies a hidden gem, an utterly beautiful, newly designed and planted garden that has wildlife habitats and many unusual species of plants and trees. The garden has been planned specifically for wilder garden visitors and has two ponds, habitat piles and insect-friendly planting. Keen gardeners will be fascinated by the choice of planting and well laid out design.
