Beverley area: Skidby Mill

Skidby Mill, Beverley Road, Skidby, Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU16 5TF

Skidby Mill, visible for miles around, is a black and white mill of great beauty. Alongside a small agricultural museum and an excellent cafe; also a good playground, and on a walking trail. All you need!

It is very photogenic from every angle, come and see. Skidby windmill is the East Riding of Yorkshire Museums’ Grade II* listed four-sailed tower mill dating from the 19th century. Look around the outside of this famous tower windmill, enjoy a picnic in the mill's acreage and explore the children's play area, to which has recently been added a new basket swing, nestling alongside the wildflower meadow. Set within an acre of land, it has fine views towards the Humber Bridge. There is plenty of space for families to relax, picnic or play games.

Some of the mill’s original outbuildings now form the Museum of East Riding Rural Life, which includes the Agriculture and Village Life Galleries. There is an independently run café serving local produce, situated in the mill courtyard
Alongside is a well known rural footpath, taking you into the beautiful country only a short distance from Cottingham and Hull
