6 York Road is close to the gatehouse of Westwood, facing south towards Willow Grove over the pasture.

Within the conservation area, it is the easternmost of a pair of adjacent brick-built houses with slate roofs. The recessed door under a circular brick arch has bays of different design to each side. Stone cills to most of the windows. A well-designed late Victorian house built by Francis Smith, who also built houses in Westwood Road and the northern pair on Westwood View.

A delightful Victorian walled garden of manageable size and perfect proportions. The owner was influenced by the Chinese concept of a circle within a square, the circle (lawn) being Heaven, and the Earth the square (the walled garden), Heaven on Earth! There is a variety of shrubs, perennials and a greenhouse with vine and fig tree.
