The Grandsons and Daughters of the Old Temperance Revival

The Bard of Holderness and friends from Thorngumbald have put together a collection of songs that evoke the old Methodist outdoor camp meetings.

These could carry on for a full day, or even a weekend and were very popular in the area. The gospel was passed to the crowd by music and spoken word in a way they could understand.

This show has hymns and spirituals that are essentially folk tunes, especially when accompanied by instruments of the day. The original meetings roused the crowd to sing and we hope that our audience will also join in the sing along sections.
